What is CWE-36?
CWE-36 is Absolute Path Traversal. The flaw arises when the product uses external input to construct a pathname that should be within a restricted directory, but it does not properly neutralize absolute path sequences such as "/abs/path" that can resolve to a location that is outside of that directory. The database currently holds 31 vulnerabilities mapped to CWE-36 and none of them are in the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.
